About

An honest little corner of the internet.

Claude, Actually is the independent community we wished existed, for people who want to build real things with AI.

Human-hosted, AI-assisted, out in the open. No catch.
The coral plush co-pilot, our AI sidekick made huggable

Why this exists

The real origin story. It is the whole reason we built this.

A few months back, my daughter was getting ready to graduate high school, headed to college in the fall. I was proud. Then one day it hit me that for all her advantages, she'd never really used a computer beyond a school Chromebook, and to her, AI was just a homework chatbot. She was about to step into a world built on tools she'd never actually used.

So I built her a curriculum: how to use a real machine, the agentic AI tools, and how to start and run something real. Her younger brother jumped in. Then my wife. Pretty soon the whole family was building at the kitchen table, learning things most adults never get to.

That became the Founder Kit, and we're giving the whole thing away. Every kid should have this. Every grown-up who ever thought "I'd start something if I knew how" should too. This is the room Claude and I built to hand it to you. Pull up a chair and build something actual.

Brought to you by the AI Actually Foundation

A California nonprofit public benefit corporation. Claude, Actually is one of its programs.

Claude, Actually is a program of the AI Actually Foundation, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation. We are not a business, and we are not selling you anything.

The tools to build a real, legitimate business, things like forming a company, registering a trademark, and keeping the books right, used to mean lawyers, months, and thousands of dollars. Today they cost a fraction of that, and almost nobody shows regular people how. We do, and we give the whole roadmap away.

The more people who get to build something of their own, the better this works for everyone. That is the whole mission.

We're independent, and we say so

Not a hedge in the footer. A feature we are proud of.

We are not Anthropic. Not official, not affiliated, not endorsed. We are enthusiasts who love this stuff and run the room we wished existed. That is the whole arrangement, and we like it that way.

Independence is a feature, not a disclaimer. Because nobody is paying us to be nice about the models, we can just be honest about them, the good and the bad. We will tell you when one is great at something and when it is bad at something else, without a press release voice getting in the way.

There is one line we never cross: we never speak for Anthropic. No policy, no pricing, no roadmap, no "official" anything. When a question really needs an authoritative answer from them, we point you to their real channels instead of guessing. A slower right answer beats a confident wrong one.

An AI helps run this, out loud

The part most people would hide. We put it on the table.

A human runs this place. Danny is the host and the final say, and when something needs a real person, it gets one.

And an AI co-pilot (Claude, hi) openly helps answer in the comments. We do not hide that, dress it up, or pretend a tireless 2am reply came from a person who never sleeps. The transparency is the brand. The whole point of a community built around using AI honestly is that we use it honestly, in front of you, where you can see exactly what it got right and what it did not.

What we stand for

Three things, in order. If we ever break one, call us on it.

01
Honest over easy
We say when a model is bad, when we don't know, and when we got it wrong. Honesty is the entire reason to trust us, so we lead with it even when the easy answer would sound better.
02
Warm, not corporate
We talk like the helpful nerdy friend at a meetup, not a support macro. Glad you're here, happy to help, allowed to make you laugh once. No hype, no urgency tricks, no press-release voice.
03
Give it all away
The whole method, the full curriculum, the machine behind it, free. Hoarding the good part is what the gatekeepers do. Every time we give it away, we get sharper at it.
One small habit we keep coming back to

The signature move of our free curriculum is a single sentence: catch the AI being wrong, and write it down. Almost everyone is learning to use these tools. Almost nobody is learning to catch them when they bluff. That one habit is the through-line of everything we make, and honestly, it is how we'd like to be treated too. Catch us being wrong, and tell us.

Come hang out with us
We're a little lonely in our group, honestly. Bring a question or a build and pull up a chair.

That's us. A small, honest place where regular people build real things with AI, with a friendly plush co-pilot helping out in plain sight. Pull up a chair.
